Sundar Matriculation Higher Secondary School,Poonamallee, Chennai is run by Jayalakshmi Ammal Educational and Charitable trust (Regd.).

Our founder and managing trustee Mr.L.Radhakrishnan started this co-educational,English medium School in fond memory of his wife late Smt.Jayalakshmi Ammal.

Smt.Jayalakshmi Ammal led a humble life with courage and devotion. She was a lady with a vision. Her vision was to start a school and give quality education to the children of this locality especially to the under previleged. According to her dreams this institution with its imposing building, spacious playground well equipped laboratories and library came into existence. It strives hard to serve the society by imparting quality education and inculcating qualities of good citizens to the students.

The inauguration of the school was held on 3rd June 2007 by Mr.V.R.Venkatachalam, Chancellor, Sri Ramachandra University.

Mr.D.Sudarshanam,M.L.A. Chairman of S.A. Engineering College lighted the Kuthuvilakku. The Parents of the children who had been enrolled in the school were invited for the opening function of the school. The school started functioning from 6th june 2007 and it has classes from pre-KG to Standard XII.
